Summary of position:

Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director of Development Operations & Communications, the Director of Annual Giving & Communications (DAGC) is responsible for planning, managing and analyzing fundraising communications programs which produce growth in unrestricted contribution revenue and a robust stream of major and planned giving prospects.

The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of effective fundraising communication practices and evaluation metrics, has demonstrated success in producing compelling donor communications and completing projects on-time and within budget, and thrives in working both collaboratively and independently.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in crafting the case for annual giving support of the Sisters of Charity Health System (SCHS) and its ministries and programs
  • Develop and manage a multi-channel fundraising communications program for multiple ministries and programs including but not limited to Annual Giving appeals and donor newsletters which effectively acquires, recovers, retains and advances donors
  • Participate in budgeting and planning of all donor communications projects
  • Serve as lead project manager for execution of donor communications projects
  • Liaise with ministry/program staff, donors and clients to collect content for communications including firsthand testimonials
  • Provide department leadership with analysis of communication project effectiveness
  • Compose & edit content in compliance with fundraising best practices
  • Identify opportunities for experimentation, testing, innovation and efficiency gains in donor communications
  • Manage vendor relationships for maximum cost effectiveness
  • Manage donor stewardship programs such as Annual Giving societies and donor honor rolls for optimal donor relationship impact
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to fully leverage resources and coordinate communications initiatives
  • Manage the One Heart employee giving campaign of the SCHS for maximum participation and cohesive impact
  • Staff and support fundraising events as needed
Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 2 years experience writing or editing donor communications or comparable content
  • Demonstrated competence managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, goal-oriented context
  • Training or self-study in donor communications best practices strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Outstanding writing & editing skills with exacting attention to detail. Able to speak in the voice of another and to tell moving stories without sacrificing professionalism or compromising integrity.
  • Team player with a polished & collegial demeanor, customer service mindset, can-do attitude and a commitment to the mission and values of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn new skills and function independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with one or more content management applications for websites, email or social media.
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge or comparable fundraising database preferred but not required
