Senior Consultant, Civil Engineering

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full time Senior Civil Engineer to work in our Chicago, Illinois office. You, as a Civil Engineer, will have a role in driving this growth. You will participate in civil/highway projects, performing tasks in a variety of areas. The position will focus on transportation and roadway design; however, projects will include a combination of disciplines that you will coordinate to assure successful project delivery to clients in a project management setting. Your Impact Perform complex design tasks and drawings using computer-aided design (CADD) related to the development of transportation projects in MicroStation OpenRoads. Lead and coordinate complex design tasks. Support preparation of final design plans, cost estimates and special provisions Develop memorandums and other written technical documents Determine client requirements and contributes to the development of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Manage design tasks and identify changes and risks. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering related field 5+ years of professional experience post graduation. (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) Good technical writing, analytical and communication skills Experience leading design tasks and managing CADD and junior design staff Proficiency in setting up horizontal and vertical alignments and 3D modeling (Bentley OpenRoad Designer). Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with IDOT and other local agencies Active member of local professional organizations. Professional Engineer (PE) License for the state of Illinois or ability to obtain in 6 months. Compensation: Expected Salary: $93,700 - $154,700 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
