Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

A manufacturing Buyer / Planner is responsible for keeping production and shipping schedules on track. As a manufacturing Buyer /Planner your job duties include in consultation with management, forecast, and backlog analysis to define the minimum inventory level required, portfolio cost reduction strategy, inventory level optimization and support of new product introduction.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Product Flow (50%)
  • Develop, maintain, utilize, and validate pricing and predictive models to forecast demand
  • Perform assigned procurement and requirement material planning activities to ensure fulfillment of customer commitments within promised timeline and budget
  • Define the minimum safety stock required to address forecast variances
  • Review the production schedule to confirm material availability
  • Resolve supplier capacity issues by prioritizing scheduling and suggestions
  • Review and interpret bills of material structure with engineering and coordinate modification as required
  • Analyze changing material demand and offer patterns related to overall supply conditions
  • Plan material to attain company metrics like turns and customer fill rate
  • Interface with vendors and forecast material integrity
  • Determine, research, and coordinate resolution of material inventory discrepancy causes
  • Responsible for procurement of long lead time items
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost and inventory and propose strategies to management
  • Implement supply chain strategies to minimize order to cash cycle
ERP and Administration (40%)
  • Manage inventory tools and analyze data about surplus and discards
  • Perform required procurement and planning tasks in ERP to ensure system efficiency and continuous material flow as per forecast
  • Maintain ERP requirements to ensure the appropriate flow of products in alignment with organizational objectives and customer commitments
  • Review and update supply chain process according to Sales/Financial forecast to ERP to ensure required material supply availability to meet business objectives
  • Review and update material requirements in ERP and work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Finance to attain production goals
  • Monitor/track on-time performance, lead times, quality, and costs
Support (10%)
  • Identifies product portfolio opportunities to reduce costs and inventory while successfully supporting Sales
  • Supports resolution of vendor quality issues in collaboration with the Quality team
Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years' of purchasing experience. 10+ strong preferred
  • 5+ years' experience working with ERP/MRP systems, identifying material demand, placing orders, and monitoring status. 10+ strong preferred
  • Relevant Electronic/Mechanical Manufacturing industry experience required
  • High school degree required
