Job Description
Responsible for managing the grocery store day-to-day operations. Ensures that the products and merchandise meet the needs of the general consumer. Oversees and is responsible for accurate maintenance of inventory recordkeeping, stocking and warehousing the inventory of the grocery store.
Compensation:
$75,000-$95,000/year (Exempt)
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to: Director of Operations
Supervises: Assistant Store Manager, Store Buyer, Store Supervisor, Butcher/Produce, Courtesy Clerk, and Stock Clerk

Essential Duties
- Assigns duties to staff based on their areas of responsibility.
- Maintain a proper inventory to achieve planned volume and gross margin.
- Ensure that established par levels are maintained on all products.
- Carry out market surveys and research customers needs to increase sales.
- Responsible for reconciliation, recording, and depositing of all cash receipts.
- Process invoices in a timely manner, maintaining an accurate invoice ledger.
- Conduct training to maintain and improve sales/customer service.
- Provide direction, motivation, and assistance to attain or surpass monthly sales goals.
- Prepare required reports including: Weekly Sales, Monthly Sales, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining merchandise presentation and housekeeping.
- Maintain facility to meet all government regulations.
- Implement and maintain inventory control and purchasing operations procedures.
- Maintain thorough familiarity with operation of electronic cash registers and opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure that Company policies and procedures regarding handling cash, checks, credit cards, and merchandise refunds/exchanges are adhered to.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the Store.
- Hire, train, and evaluate all Grocery Store employees.
- Recommend Store layout changes to meet changes in business plans and/or needs; responsible for working with staff, consultants, vendors, and contractors to implement those changes.
- Responsible for periodic inventories.
- Handle customer complaints and returns in a cordial manner, creating mutual benefits to store and customers.
- Implement customer suggestions on how to render better services in the store.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualification/Requirements:
- Requires previous supervisory experience.
- Requires knowledge and experience in inventory procedures and computerized inventory program.
- Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
- Requires working on weekends and holidays.
- Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
- Current County of Maui Liquor Certification
- Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review Motor Vehicle Record
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
- The employee is occasionally required to operate objects, tools, or controls.
