Performs technical work in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components for City facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over a small crew.
Electrician II
Performs intermediate technical work in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components for City facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over a small crew.
Electrician III
Performs difficult technical work in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components for City facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over a small crew.

- Trouble-shoot electrical components (25%)
- Repair and replace outdated electrical components (20%)
- Install new electrical circuits (20%)
- Discuss job requirements with and receive instructions from supervisor (5%)
- Inspect for National Electrical Code violations (5%)
- Develop work assignments based upon priorities (5%)
- Requisition necessary equipment and materials (5%)
- Maintain time and materials records (5%)
- Train and instruct unskilled and semi-skilled workers (5%)

- General knowledge of the National Electrical Code, skilled in the use of all diagnostic equipment to successfully repair electronic components

Minimally Qualified Starting Pay: $25.91
- Thorough knowledge of the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and replacement of all electrical components associated with general municipal building facilities, including water and wastewater treatment and pump station equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Electrician I, II, III
- Associate's degree in electronic technology or another closely related field with moderate experience in the maintenance of automated electrical or electronic control systems,
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the maintenance of automated electrical or electronic control systems
- Possession of North Carolina Unlimited Electrical Contractor License
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Electrician I
- NIMS 100, 200, and 700 training certificates within 12 months of hire.
- Possession of North Carolina Unlimited Electrical Contractor License
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in the electrical maintenance filed
- Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- The employee must pull permits in his/her name or the license must be signed over to the City of Gastonia.
Electrician II
- NIMS 100, 200, and 700 training certificates within 12 months of hire.
- Possession of North Carolina Unlimited Electrical Contractor License
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in the electrical maintenance filed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Electrician I, II & III):
1. The physical activity of this position includes:
