Job Summary
Manages advanced practice operations for a specific area of care including but not limited to compliance with organizational and regulatory agency standards managing scheduling, time off requests and organizational oversight of the work unit to ensure the competence and qualifications of direct reports. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals including hiring, on-boarding and counseling.
Acts as an expert resource person for supervisory staff and health care providers, oversees onboarding new advanced practice providers (APPs) to role responsibilities of the service, establishes policies related to practice, standardized procedures and protocols for APP practice, conducts research and teaching programs. Monitors patient care ensuring quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies and best practices. Collaborates with senior managers and Chief of Advanced Practice to develop, improve and integrate advanced practice functions and systems across specialties and departments. Provides practice supervision for all direct report supervisors and APP FTE assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of valid California RN and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner license, or Physician Assistant (PA) license Furnishing license if Nurse Practitioner DEA within 3 months of hire National Board Certification in aligned specialty American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR, and all certifications required for area of work Graduation with a master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, or graduation with a master's degree or PhD from an accredited PA school Two years or greater experience working as a clinical leader in position with direct reports. Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong operational skills Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider Strong knowledge of human resources practices and policies in a represented provider environment.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Business Administration, or equivalent One year or greater recent clinical experience in specialty care of the hiring department highly desirable

UC Davis Health is at the forefront of incorporating Advanced Practice Providers (APP) as part of interprofessional care teams to support increasing numbers of complex care patients. APPs are vital parts of the multidisciplinary hospital based teams caring for our patients in specialty care throughout the UC Davis Health system.
Department Specific Job Scope
Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills.
This position reports to the Director of Ambulatory Advanced Practice.
The APP Manager 1 will initially oversee one department in the ambulatory care setting with the plan to expand to multiple departments which may include up to 70 or more inpatient/outpatients FTEs.
