Responsibilities

Enterprise Architect Lead with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to provide Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) support to the United States Space Force (USSF) in support of the Operational Command and Control (C2) Acquisition Delta responsible for developing software and the supporting architecture for the organize, understand, plan, decide, direct, and monitor capabilities within the C2 Joint Capability Areas (JCAs). The successful candidate should be a proven problem solver and self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to lead and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Essential job responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: Translating the customer mission, vision, goals, and strategies into an organizational construct. Participating in development of a Concept of Operations (CONOPs) and Operational Concept (OpsCon) that describes external entities, core capabilities, internal functions, and operational interactions. Promoting and educating stakeholders on the use and value of MBSE and Systems Architecture Framework. Coordinating and facilitating Architecture and MBSE-related technical and strategy discussions. Facilitating MBSE efforts with team while coordinating with internal and customer leadership to ensure strategy and vision alignment. Conducting walkthroughs and formal reviews of system requirements and architecture models developed using MBSE and Systems Modeling Language (SysML) processes. Facilitating and participating in the collaborative process of identifying and capturing MBSE data with engineers and technical subject matter experts to establish and maintain technical baselines. Applying MBSE methodology to perform requirements definition, analysis, and management; functional and performance analysis; system design; detailed trade studies; systems integration; test verification and validation; and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements. Utilizing Agile methodology for MBSE execution (e.g. prototyping Architecture as Code). Providing recommendations for continuous process improvement in areas such as systems engineering processes, MBSE implementation, and requirements decomposition and allocation. Documenting the total Delta architecture to perform actions such as interface management, dependency reporting, capability-based performance modeling, and determining development gaps. Developing model artifacts to capture requirements, system functions and design, and to provide system definition utilizing SysML. Developing complex platform and system architectures and their interface definitions in an MBSE environment. Supporting management of models and derived work products consistent with project configuration and data management processes and standards. Training others on MBSE concepts and tools. Developing and extending system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents. Assessing system requirements and overall design to translate and recommend optimum system architecture captured in a digital domain. Preparing system architectures and models to specify operations to be performed by computer software. Interpreting information support plans, Architecture Framework diagrams, and other applicable documentation. Developing integration plans and procedures and organize resources to facilitate program transition activities. Documenting engineering activities, including writing reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations to the Government leadership. Supporting the development and communication of roadmaps for programs and associated technologies and product lines. Establishing trusted and influential relationships with customers and other stakeholders. Using experience, technical education, resources, and creativity to assess a variety of technologies for military acquisition applications. Working on multiple networks across various classification levels, adhering to all security policies, procedures, and processes.

Qualifications

Required Experience: 14 years of relevant DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience. 7 years of UML/SysML digital engineering experience. Demonstrated SME in MBSE concepts with a minimum 5 years of active development experience in an object-oriented modeling software (i.e. Sparx or Cameo). Demonstrated experience with the development of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (Zachman, TOGAF, DoDAF, UAF, etc.). Experience with aspects of systems engineering such as requirements elicitation, analysis, derivation and traceability, functional analysis and allocation, WBS, trade studies, modeling and simulation, metrics, risk management, integration and test, verification and validation. Demonstrated experience with Mattermost, Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and Outlook. Knowledge and experience working in Agile / Scrum teams, including daily standups, retrospectives, demos/reviews. Demonstrated ability to develop system behavior, structure, data, and requirements models. Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment, can accomplish high-level tasks independently, is skilled in problem definition, and works well with other team members and customers. Demonstrated record of successfully taking ownership and responsibility for projects. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, specifically attention to detail along with effective time and project management skills. Experience with presenting and communicating technical data to various audiences (government and leadership audience experience preferred). Willingness to mentor colleagues. Desired Qualifications: Experience working with DoD or IC acquisition organizations. Experience working on a SEIT or Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract. Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in SSC. At least 2 years' of Special Access Programs (SAP) and/or TS/SCI experience. Knowledge of Information Technology (IT), computer system infrastructure, data communication and network system, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, and routing protocols. Experience in Multi-Domain/Multi-Level Security architectures. Experience working on-site in a government client environment. Experience with Agile Software Acquisition Pathway (DoD Adaptive Acquisition Framework). Familiarity with the software factory platform diagrams. Working knowledge of networking, communications, and kill chains. Knowledge and experience working in Agile / Scrum teams, including daily standups, retrospectives, demos/reviews. Capability to assume a leadership role during reviews and technical meetings. Education Requirements: B.S. in engineering or other relevant technical discipline. M.S. degree in related STEM field (desired). Desired - OMG-Certified SysML Professional (OCSMP) certification (Model User, Model Builder Fundamental, Model Builder Intermediate, Model Builder Advanced). Security Clearance Level Required: Top Secret, SCI eligible (Must be a U.S. Citizen). Eligibility for access to SAP Information. Location/Travel Requirements: Place of work is El Segundo, CA area, remote work opportunity is limited. May require travel up to 20% of time within the continental United States. The pay range for this position in California is $175,000/year to $220,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
