Job Description PURPOSE: This position provides automation and programming support on a day-to-day basis for all onshore and offshore facilities to maintain production either remotely or in person. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform development, implementation, commissioning and maintenance of Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition systems in the Oil and Gas industry, including drives, instrumentation, reporting and security. Work with the engineering team to design automation systems and processes to increase production efficiency and safety. Work with the electricians, instrumentation technicians, lead operators and engineers to maintain system uptime and deliver information. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Lead project management, development and implementation of all automation-related projects pertaining to company-managed assets. Proficient in Allen Bradley Factory talk view, SLC and CLX-based software, Siemens PLC’s Automation Direct C-more and Direct Soft based software, Wonderware HMI software, VFDs and soft starters. Execute industrial control logic, control system planning and layout of required components, setup, installation and commissioning of hardware for system control, programming of PLCs, HMI’s calibration and troubleshooting of process instruments, PLC and Wonderware issues, PID tuning, conveying information to facility operators for understanding. Maintain good practices for the automation, instrumentation and electrical systems. Must be able to work on the online SCADA/PLC systems remotely in a safe manner. Work with management, production and engineering to design automation systems and processes to increase production efficiency, safety and security. Perform general technical work in project management, development and implementation of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, reporting and security. Work with the lead operators and engineers to maintain systems uptime and deliver information. Direct activities for a team of I&E technicians, electricians and contractors on a day-to-day and project task. Audit systems and develop standards for automation, programming, instrumentation and security. Develop standards and maintain project documentation, including commissioning and operating procedures. Configure and maintain data acquisition systems and extract reports as requested by operations, engineering and management. Maintain SCADA server in the virtual as well as hardware environment, work closely with the IT department to troubleshoot communication equipment connecting DCOR facilities and the SCADA environment. Regularly perform backups and maintain and securely archive these repositories appropriately. Proficiently use test instruments, multi meter measurements, hart communicator and computer-based diagnostic and testing equipment used in the Oil and Gas industry. Develop and implement programs for preventative maintenance and recordkeeping. Maintain NEC Code compliance for automation projects. Read and interpret P&ID drawings and program according to SAFE charts. Demonstrate the ability to understand processes in the oil and gas industries and program these systems accordingly. Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain records. Perform project layout, order materials and successfully complete and commission projects. Continue to learn and maintain current and newer systems as these may be adopted by the company in the future. Keep up to date with safety training modules. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be qualified under applicable regulations and required fit testing. Required to wear personal protective equipment. Ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions. Analyze and respond promptly to safety and environmental issues in a sound and timely manner. Obtain and maintain Swing Rope Certification. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent. Relevant college degree. Oil and Gas industry experience, but not required. 5 to 10+ years of previous, relevant experience in automated control systems. Relevant experience with PLC software and HMI platforms.
