Under limited supervision, the Donor Relations Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual, major and planned gifts from prospective donors. The DRO builds close working relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations, and will have primary responsibility for gathering and analyzing prospect data, drafting proposals, managing grateful family mailings and developing appropriate stewardship with a portfolio of annual giving and major contributors to Gilchrist and the Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute. This position works in close collaboration with leadership, clinical staff, volunteers and external stakeholders.
Education
B.S. or equivalent in communications, public relations or in related field
Experience
3-5 years of experience in the nonprofit area required with proven success in establishing and achieving the fundraising goals, including soliciting contributions from individuals at the $1,000 and above level.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proposal writing and reporting skills
Ability to develop and implement fundraising plans
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of fundraising donor management software and databases
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Understanding of fundraising issues specific to the healthcare/hospital environment and to volunteer boards
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in the communication of donor information.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Plans and executes a financially successful fundraising program for the Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute through proactive identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with donors and prospects for support of unrestricted and restricted needs of the organization.
Assists in planning, implementing, and managing any fundraising or donor cultivation events to benefit Gilchrist and the Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute.
Provides input and advice regarding strategic planning and administration of all fundraising programs; works collaboratively to coordinate prospects.
Builds, enhances, and manages existing relationships with donors, foundations, and organizations and identifies new sources of funding.
Assists in the management of a variety of annual fund initiatives including, but not limited to, direct mail campaigns, electronic fundraising campaigns, and special events.
Works with the Philanthropy Services Manager to ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgment and recognition of all contributions to Gilchrist and the Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute. Works with Philanthropy staff to ensure accuracy of donor records.
Works effectively with volunteers and members of the volunteer boards and committees.
Represents Luminis Health Gilchrist Lifecare Institute at external events in Anne Arundel and Prince Georges Counties.
Tracks fundraising results and analyzes statistical results of fundraising efforts and recommends strategic changes to enhance program success.
Prepares and submits letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and reports.
Pay Range
$71,006.92 - $120,711.77. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with our organizational needs.
