35 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
JASA is seeking a Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) to continue the development and lead the ongoing implementation of an organization-wide DEIB strategy. Reporting to the Chief People and Inclusion Officer and positioned within the Human Resources department, the Director of DEIB will be responsible for advancing an overarching vision of DEIB for the organization across JASA’s internal practices, organizational culture, program areas, and client-facing services, including new initiatives emerging from JASA’s recent Strategic Plan. The Director of DEIB will work closely with staff across JASA’s programs and operational departments, the executive team, and the Board of Trustees to advance the organization’s DEIB goals. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a thought and accountability partner for the Executive Team on DEIB issues Collaborate with the staff DEIB Council and DEIB Champions to help advance their work and align priorities with the DEIB strategy Provide strategic leadership in the development of culturally specific and responsive programming across the organization Examine internal policies, procedures, and practices to identify opportunities for the organization to modify or align client-facing practices with the organization’s DEIB goals Ensure that new activities in the JASA Strategic Plan are aligned with the DEIB strategy and goals Collaborate with the Chief People and Inclusion Officer to design and implement strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, and providing them with training and professional development opportunities Partner with the Senior Director of Impact and Performance Measurement to develop accountability metrics, and prepare reports on relevant progress of the organization’s DEIB efforts Identify and cultivate relationships in the DEIB community with learning institutions and external organizations that focus on promoting and enhancing DEIB Collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications to communicate DEIB as an organizational priority to internal and external stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in multicultural and diversity studies, business administration, public administration, sociology, organizational psychology, human resources, or a related field; an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered Experienced leader with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience leading DEIB initiatives with an emphasis on strategy development and administration Demonstrated track record of fostering organizational change and advancing and operationalizing a DEIB strategy In-depth knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging research and best practices. Proven experience with developing, delivering, and adapting a dynamic DEIB curriculum Strong interpersonal skills, credibility, and ability to engage with staff, leadership, and the Board of Trustees to promote trust, collaboration, and partnership Demonstrated experience leveraging data to advance equitable practices at an organization Familiarity with and knowledge of large-scale nonprofit and social services organizations Proven ability and desire to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of a committed, integrated team, and build strong relationships with colleagues Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and concisely (both in writing and orally) Strong attention to detail with the ability to solve problems, prioritize work, work independently, and excel in a high-performance culture Ambitious, innovative, and creative mindset, bringing fresh perspectives to tasks and projects Professional maturity, good judgment, and ability to motivate others in a similar way
