https://www.linkedin.com/company/altagrove What you will do: The candidate shall provide a qualified workforce to function as the lead Wireless Network Engineer who can support defense related data instrumentation and data driven analysis capability. Lead the installation, configuration, and optimization of shipboard Wi-Fi systems to ensure reliable and high-performance connectivity throughout the vessel. Troubleshoot and resolve Wi-Fi connectivity issues, performing regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance. Design, configure, and maintain Aruba wireless and wired network solutions. Maintain computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware. Install and configure network equipment. Create firewalls and update virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected. Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for all systems. Perform site surveys for the installation of IP hardware at customer facilities to identify interface requirements, power budgets, rack space requirements, distribution of hardware, and cable patching (serial and Ethernet). Manage the integration of shipboard networks, including the planning, installation, and configuration of network hardware and software. Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management. Implement disaster recovery procedures. Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices of industry and DoD to offer the best solutions and protection of systems. Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks. Install, configure and maintain network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP. Create and maintain professional documentation of network configurations, topologies and equipment utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite to include Visio. Provide network design, configuration, and implementation support for corporate and government networks. Provide network design, configuration, and implementation support for Data center routing and switching environments. Provide customer support and guidance through operational support as well as value-added recommendations in industry best practice and network efficiency. Provide technical support to internal and external customers including problem troubleshooting and resolution of network events and outages. Generate engineering standards and perform acceptance testing for new equipment and solutions. Develop and maintain engineering tasks, engineering goals and objectives. Develop and maintain internal processes and provide skills training to other staff on an as-required basis, through knowledge sharing and mentoring. Lead projects with the ability to function in a highly dynamic environment. What you will bring: Highly proficient knowledge of Cisco Routers and Switches. Design, configure, and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF routing protocols. Knowledge and experience with MPLS/VPNs in a service provider environment. Experience with Aruba network solutions (including switches, wireless access points, and management platforms like Aruba Central or AirWave). Experience with LAN infrastructure VLANs, Trunking, HSRP, etc. Experience installing/troubleshooting WAN circuits. Experience designing and configuring QoS CBWFQ, LLQ, and Classification Methods. Expert knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP network technologies; DNS, DHCP, TFTP, NAT, and SSL. Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IPsec (AES 256), Firewall (Cisco Firepower, Fortinet, Checkpoint or Palo Alto networks), IPS, route-maps, and ACLs. Experience configuring wireless technologies (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) using Cisco/Aruba controllers and APs. Experience working with Network Management Systems (e.g. SolarWinds, Splunk, ServiceNow, etc.). Experience working in AWS or Azure Cloud. Knowledge of SDN, SD-WAN technologies (e.g. Cisco ACI, EVPNs, etc.). Must be proficient with both layer 2 and layer 3 networking concepts, protocols, and technologies and have intimate working knowledge with routing and switching configurations on Cisco IOS equipment. Must be familiar with network security concepts and best practices to include firewall administration through McAfee Sidewinder and Cisco ASA and/or Juniper products and services. Highly prefer having working knowledge of DoD network policies and regulations in relation to network design and configuration; must have a firm understanding of network design concepts and articulation of those concepts through documentation such as engineering proposals and diagrams. Must have in-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers and printers. Must have comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP. Must have the ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently. Must have the ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure. Must maintain a Secret security clearance with Top Secret eligibility. CCNA with a CCNP highly desired. 5+ years of network administration/engineering experience within the DoD desired. Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment desired. Willing to go the extra mile on behalf of our customers, partners, and their missions.
