A law firm is seeking a Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney to join their team in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will have significant litigation experience with a strong background in privacy laws. The attorney will work on sophisticated legal matters, offer practical advice to clients, and engage in various aspects of case work-up and trial preparation. This is an opportunity for someone with strong academic credentials and excellent research, writing, and communication skills. Experience with privacy litigation and a deep understanding of federal, state, and international privacy laws is preferred. Key Responsibilities:
Manage all elements of case work-up and trial preparation for privacy and technology-related legal matters. Draft briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests. Conduct extensive legal research and writing on privacy and tech transactions-related issues. Handle privacy litigation cases with knowledge of relevant federal, state, and international laws. Provide practical legal advice to clients regarding privacy, data protection, and incident response. Collaborate with clients directly on complex and sophisticated legal matters, providing comprehensive legal strategies. Support the development and implementation of privacy policies and practices. Monitor evolving privacy laws and regulations to ensure client compliance. Engage in client counseling on risk management, data privacy compliance, and cyber incident responses. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating superior problem-solving skills. Required Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials. Admission to the Florida State Bar (or eligibility for admission). Significant litigation experience, particularly in managing full case life cycles. Strong legal research and writing experience, including drafting various legal documents such as briefs, motions, and discovery. Knowledge of federal, state, and international privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) is a plus. Experience in a law firm or similar professional environment. Superior writing, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with clients directly and provide strategic legal advice. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in privacy litigation. Experience with technology transactions, particularly related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and incident response. Familiarity with data breach response and handling of sensitive information in a legal context. Certifications:
Admission to the Florida Bar (or the ability to waive in). Additional certifications related to data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) are highly desirable. Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Additional coursework or certifications in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related fields are a plus. Skills:
Excellent legal research and writing skills. Strong communication and client management skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
