CT Tech, Medical Imaging is a role responsible for the day-to-day clinical, technical and operational functions within a CT department. Collaborates with supervisor/lead tech to assist with the coordination of the activities of all CT departments in efforts towards maintaining proper patient flow and staff coverage. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization, stewardship of all technical, physical, and human resources. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Participates in performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. CT technologists are also required to perform diagnostic x-ray procedures as a regular part of their duties at assigned locations. The CT Tech, Medical Imaging collaborates with each of the Supervisors of Imaging, and lead technologists to receive both imaging leadership and physician direction or instruction on an ongoing basis. Under the direction of the Chair, Medical Imaging, designated radiologist, and the imaging directors, the CT Tech, Medical Imaging participates in all CT activities related to the modality. Must be capable of developing, interpreting and administering all CT related policies, procedures and protocols. Must maintain efficient and effective department operations while maintaining compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and practices. Must possess critical thinking skills. The CT Tech, Medical Imaging is responsible for performing exams according to UH protocols and producing quality images related to all CT exams in accordance with standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and the organization’s Medical Imaging Department policies and procedures. This role demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, disease processes and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized techniques. Additionally, he/she ensures that the CT department is compliant with all current and emerging radiation tracking and monitoring standards as well as all ACR accreditation guidelines. Must strive to create and maintain great relationships with all facility stakeholders. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or the equivalent and graduation from AMA Radiologic Technology Program. Required-registered in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and board certified in a specialty. ARRT (R), ARRT (CT), Required Upon Hire Required-performance of diagnostic x-ray procedures as a regular part of their duties at assigned locations. Preferred- minimum of 1 year CT tech experience in an acute setting. BCLS certification: if candidate does not have BCLS certification upon hire, they have 90 days from date of hire to obtain this certification. BCLS certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. ACLS certification preferred. Adaptability and ability to effectively communicate with all patients and members of the healthcare team. Works with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of the human development process and ability to work effectively with all patients of all ages. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to assist and move patients.
