Position Summary:
Software Engineer- High Speed Cables Location:
Nashua, NH Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM's globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Software Engineer for High Speed Cables to join our team. The position is located on-site, in Nashua, NH. Our collaborative software team develops firmware, manufacturing applications, and various specialty software tools for our hardware engineering teams. The focus of this position is on in-house, Windows centric, Manufacturing applications. This area is constantly evolving to support new products, new test equipment, tighter test specifications, as well as buildouts of additional production lines. Responsibilities:
Be a contributing member on various product teams, mapping out software automation strategies for volume manufacturing. Provide software tools expertise to hardware team members as needed. Design, develop and support in-house manufacturing applications as well as UNIX style command line utilities. Evolve and support internal APIs on top of which applications are built, including incorporating support for 3rd party test equipment, such as high-speed testers, thermal conditioning systems, power supplies, and various sensors. Aid in product defect analysis, which may include updating our production tools to collect additional information and mining factory log files. Provide direct application escalation support to line engineers in two of our factories (Mexico and China), which often involves logging into remote manufacturing stations and debugging on-site issues with the help of remote hands. Ensure that all software is well documented and that it can be supported by other team members. Deploy updated manufacturing software and configuration files to remote factory stations, as needed. Visit factories during new product rollouts, as needed. Mentor other team members, as needed. Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of industry experience with desktop application software development or equivalent. Comfortable working in C++, preferably using Visual Studio. Comfortable developing Windows GUI applications. Comfortable working in a team that shares code and with peer reviews of code. Hands-on experience with source code control systems, including a habit to make regular check-ins. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong English reading and writing ability. Self-starter, able to work efficiently without having all details or requirements laid out on the table. Dynamic and adaptable personality, able to think out of the box. Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Experience with I2C, SPI, and SCPI. Experience working with a logic analyzer. Understanding of Signal Integrity theory and practice. Familiarity in working with low level hardware interfaces. Experience working with high-speed communication equipment, including knowledge about SFF standards. Experience working with prototype hardware and lab settings. Ability to improvise testing setups with bread boards and jumpers. Familiarity with MySQL, both at the command line and API levels.
