The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000-$75,000. Position Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating activities and identifying new appropriate experiments for undergraduate Earth and Environmental Sciences instructional laboratories, primarily at the introductory level, including laboratory set-up, support and maintenance. Duties & Responsibilities

Recommend, implement and oversee the set-up of laboratory tests and experiments for undergraduate instructional laboratories in earth and environmental sciences. Design, develop, construct and demonstrate equipment needed for teaching laboratories. Maintain, modify and provide teaching laboratory manuals and equipment including instructional and safety materials. Train Teaching Assistants on conducting instructional labs with students and in teaching practices. Develop and coordinate instructional field trips for students; develop instructional materials and identify new locations. Evaluate need for new equipment, make recommendations and advise on procurement process. Evaluate laboratory equipment, examine and document performance. Oversee the procurement of laboratory equipment, specimens and supplies. Train faculty and students on proper procedures and lab safety. Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate and advanced degree in Geoscience, Earth and Environmental Science or Geoscience Education required. A minimum of one year of previous teaching experience (as teacher or teaching assistant) in high school, and/or college/university setting required. Experience in laboratory work and knowledge of safety rules and procedures. Knowledge of geology, chemistry, physics and biology. Knowledge of educational practices. Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical repair procedures; maintenance and repair procedures for polarized light microscopes. Preferred Qualifications
