As an Application Development Specialist you will provide technical services to assigned industry customers for the purpose of sales growth. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Customer Activities: Promote distinction between Univar Solutions and our competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs-based evaluations of the technology used by customers. Adapt and implement on a local basis, the national product strategies and services as written by the Industry Director. Assist field sellers and industry team members with joint calls. Identify which Univar technological product best suits the customer’s applications and develop strategies to promote customers’ adaptation and/or conversion to Univar products. Build profitable sales, employing a consultative approach. Develop and maintain a long-term partnership with customers by using industry expertise. Use Univar resources to provide solutions to customer needs and capture market intelligence. • Manage communication with supplier technical resources. • Collaborate on products and service solutions. • Attend product training/continuing education/updates. • Assist with new product launches. • Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers/products. • Provide feedback on technical aspects, intelligence, and marketplace. Internal Activities: Provide product and industry training to all Sales and Sales support teams as required. Participate in all Industry-related meetings/teleconferences. Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations. Support all aspects of development of business opportunities, targets, prospecting. Provide communication to collaborators. Assist in tradeshows (national & local) and Industry conferences/meetings; website info, literature development. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Four-year college degree (Chemistry, Biology, or Agribusiness preferred). Proven technical knowledge in area of specialization. Knowledge of agrochemicals & chemicals used in agriculture and their applications. Successful experience (five years min) with a technical product concentration in the focused industry. Agriculture formulation experience in adjuvant, crop protection, and fertilizer formulations a plus. Knowledge of Microbes: from a soil health and crop protection perspective a plus.
