Position Overview:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for analyzing quality issues to identify root causes and implementing corrective actions. This role collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to control processes and establish standard work. Additionally, the Quality Engineer develops and executes continuous improvement programs for both production processes and quality management systems, working to eliminate quality issues and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free production environment.
Implement and ensure conformance to Manufacturing and Quality Control plans, along with related specifications.
Review audit results to determine the best corrective measures and strategies for risk reduction.
Collaborate with supporting departments to enhance product producibility.
Focus on improving the process capability of key manufacturing processes, including machining (grinding, lathes/mills, deburring) and special processes (heat treat, plating, NDT).
Lead and participate in the Quality Clinic to achieve real-time MRB dispositions and facilitate RCCA processes.
Provide training for newly deployed quality processes to necessary personnel.
Utilize problem-solving techniques like 5-Why analysis and PFMEA to deliver effective corrective actions.
Prepare monthly quality metrics for various review boards and management reviews.
Assist in supervising product quality assurance activities such as receiving inspections, in-process checks, final inspections, and NDT, while adhering to standards of conduct.
Recommend process and safety improvements in line with company-wide goals.
Identify and address training needs in collaboration with the training coordinator.
Assist in identifying nonconformances and compiling analyses, focusing on those requiring customer MRB review.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to handle parts.
Close vision is required for the role.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Extensive experience in a manufacturing or precision machine shop environment with a solid understanding of quality principles, materials, and processes, including assembly and testing.
Knowledge of quality assurance methods and procedures relevant to military and commercial standards.
Proficiency in GD&T and demonstrated ability to function in a high-tech environment.
Strong communication skills to interface with administration, management, and customers.
