Introduction GRADE : 18 LOCATION OF POSITION : MDH - Office of Internal Controls, Audit Compliance & Information Security (IAC/S) 201 W. Preston Street Baltimore, MD 21201 Main Purpose of Job The Maryland Department of Health has a number of data sharing agreements with vendors. These agreements, which involve the electronic sharing of data, are reviewed and vetted through the Strategic Data Initiative (SDI) Team to ensure the department's data being shared will be maintained on a platform with appropriate safeguards and access controls. This position is responsible for pre-review of the required security protocol which gives an overview of the vendor's data platform. The incumbent will work with the information technology team members of SDI to recognize incomplete or insufficient responses that may need additional clarification. This position serves as a resource and 'liaison' when needed between the SDI IT Team members and the program/vendor for follow up once the IT Team members review the required/requested documents. This position will also perform pre-review of agreements when there is an influx of agreements. This position tracks and communicates with programs and vendors for the re-submission of required updates of security surveys and risk assessments, and also tracks the submission of Plan of Action & Milestones (POAM) which are required to be submitted at various intervals when the SDI IT Team members make it a requirement of approval. This position maintains and updates (as needed) the database of all security surveys. Effective May 15, 2024, an employee may be required to come into the office 2 days a week. This hybrid schedule will be agreed upon between the appointing authority, supervisor, and employee and can be subject to change. The employee in this position must adhere to the updated Maryland State Telework Policy effective 5/15/24 and the updates IAC/S Telework Policy effective 5/22/24. IAC/S employees are required to disclose secondary employment. All employment (compensated and uncompensated) outside the Department must not create a conflict of interest, an appearance of a conflict of interest, or impair the impartiality and independence of judgment of the individual. See MDH Policy 01.05.10 for additional details. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience : Six years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes : Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. BENEFITS Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year. FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS Online applications are highly recommended.
