Job Summary:
The Senior Software Engineer - Scheduling Software Development designs, develops, maintains, and troubleshoots systems which manage and interact with the satellite planning and scheduling software, as part of the Globalstar ground system. This position works with other team members to ensure requirements amongst subsystems are met, interface controls are adhered to, and departmental deadlines and objectives are achieved.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Participate in design and performance optimization workshops for algorithm development and refinement.
Design and develop high-performance, highly optimized systems controlling and interacting with satellite tracking scheduling software.
Work with team members to design and develop REST APIs to interact with the satellite tracking scheduling software.
Develop and maintain frameworks for building, unit testing and deployment of pertinent subsystems.
Write specifications and requirements defining application functions, features, and goals.
Proactively troubleshoot/debug/resolve application and performance issues.
Work within the established Globalstar Agile/Scrum development methodology using Atlassian products.
Independently research architectural software issues and recommend solutions.
Skills and Competencies:
Solid working knowledge of C++ and Python and their development tools
Some experience developing back-end server applications
Knowledge of distributed microservice development
Knowledge of API development tools and specifications (e.g. Swagger)
Familiarity with CI/CD frameworks such as GIT, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
Good working knowledge of RDBs (Oracle, MySQL and associated tools)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
Experience with satellite operations systems a plus
Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to explore new languages, skills, techniques, and platforms
Exhibits an excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (hard science required)
5 to 7 years of experience as a Software Developer
5 to 7 years of experience in Telecom
5 to 7 years of experience working with the following:
Python/Shell/C++
Relational Databases
Linux operating system
GIT, Bitbucket tools
Physical Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
