As our Maritime team continues to quickly grow, we are looking for a Senior Hydrodynamic Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will utilize your knowledge of hydrodynamics to develop, implement, and maintain hydrodynamic virtual representations of our current and future undersea vehicles and identify ways to improve mission success. You will collaborate with a motivated, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about subsea robotics and exploring the open ocean. WHAT YOU’LL DO Architect and develop simulation tools in order to understand how our subsea products perform in a variety of scenarios Develop and implement hydrodynamic modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities that capture appropriate data during testing so that models can be updated and validated Rapidly iterate on M&S capabilities during test periods; collaborating with the GNC team to maximize field test Simulate and Test data analysis tools and processes Create test and simulation fixtures that operate with both software- and hardware-in-the-loop Work with multi-disciplinary subject matter experts to understand and adequately model pertinent sub-system, system, and system of system dynamics Work with internal and external customers to understand simulation requirements and develop efficient modeling and simulation solutions REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, ocean engineering, or related technical discipline, with a focus on hydrodynamics or aerodynamics, or equivalent work experience Experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis engineering or related technical experience Experience creating hydrodynamic databases from water tunnel test, wind tunnel test, or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Experience in sea trials test planning for performance, stability and control, and propulsive load characterization Experience extracting hydrodynamic coefficients from test data Liaise with other engineering functions (structures, GNC, propulsion, controls, payloads) to diagnose and remediate design issues Experience building computational meshes for CFD analysis Proficiency with scientific computing systems (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) and scientific Python (e.g., NumPy, SciPy) Familiarity with C++ and/or Python Experience with Subsea vehicles and/or aerospace/aeronautical systems (including rotorcraft/VTOL) Experience with developing sub-system and system level models (undersea vehicles, air vehicles, ground vehicles, ground based sensors and other types of complex systems) Experience with model development to support Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithm development Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Expertise in modeling and simulating complex hydrodynamic systems in marine environments Advanced proficiency with C++ Experience with computer programs used to analyze wave interactions such as WEC-Sim and WAMIT Experience with SITL and HITL simulation infrastructure design, development and deployment for complex systems Experience with developing emulated/simulation interfaces for on-board avionics US Salary Range $168,000 - $252,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
