Benefits/Perks Flexible Scheduling Competitive Compensation Career Advancement Opportunities Job Summary Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements. Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm, and lighting circuits. Conducts insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables to determine condition and effects repairs or replacements as required. Supervises and participates in the installation and/or alteration of electrical systems aboard ships. Maintains adequate inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as required. Maintains electrical system maintenance histories noting date and extent of repairs and/or alterations. Responsibilities: Repair or replace wiring equipment or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools. Examine electrical system circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices like ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to confirm compatibility and safety of the system. Use different types of tools or equipment, like power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or check lamps. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Diagnose faulty systems, apparatus, or parts, using equipment and hand tools to find the reason for a breakdown and correct the problem. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or parts to spot hazards, defects, or the necessity for adjustment or repair, and to confirm compliance with codes. Work on the installation of ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, like motors. Construct and fabricate elements, using hand tools and specifications. Direct or train other employees to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Work on installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronic systems for powerboats and sailboats. Must possess the ability to work in any condition like bending, twisting, and standing to execute normal job duties. Experience with the following systems preferred but not essential: HVAC ducting, piping, etc. Cabling (copper and fiber) Equipment racks Lockers / Furniture Fiddle boards Connection boxes Power panels Lighting Antennas / Radomes Multi pin / Fiber Optic / RF and other types of connectors Cable tags / Wire markers Qualifications: Previous experience as a Marine Electrician is preferred. Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and measurements. Professional appearance and courteous personality.
