The University Libraries at Radford University seeks a creative, user-oriented University Archivist and Head of Archives and Special Collections to lead our Archives and Special Collections team. This role is essential to preserving and promoting the history, culture, and development of our institution, ensuring that archival materials reflect and document our diverse university community and contribute to our Appalachian Collection and Special Collections. Reporting to the University Librarian, the University Archivist will oversee all aspects of Archives and Special Collections operations, including appraisal, acquisition, arrangement, description, and conservation of materials. Additionally, this position provides specialized outreach, reference, and instructional services to foster the use of our collections by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external researchers. This is a twelve-month, non-tenured professional faculty position, with starting rank based upon experience and qualifications. It includes responsibilities for collection development, university service, and professional contributions. Required Qualifications: Strong leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills, with a commitment to fostering teamwork and collaboration. Expertise in archival standards, preservation practices, and archival management software. Proficiency in digital preservation tools and experience in creating online finding aids. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with experience preparing reports and instructional materials. Cataloging experience following national archival standards and best practices. Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining online archival finding aids. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting undergraduate student research with archival materials. Experience working with rare book collections. Experience procuring collections and outreach. Knowledge of Appalachian history and culture. Hiring Range:
