DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) is a multi-funded organization of the Division of Student Affairs and Success (DSAS) at UC Santa Cruz. CHES provides leadership in the areas of college student life and residential services, housing services and facilities, capital planning, business and financial analysis, dining services, conference services, and early education services. JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the Residential Community Service Program Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of two to three Residential Community Service Partners. The Supervisor is responsible for the safety and security of all residents, employees, families and campus visitors as well as the designated residential facilities during their assigned shift. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary:
68,000/annually Benefits Level Eligibility:
Full benefits Schedule Information: Full-time, Fixed Percentage of Time: 100%, 40 Hours per Week Days of the Week: Work Days and Schedules to be Discussed at Time of Interview Shift Includes: Evenings, Nights, Swing Shift and Weekends. Employee Classification:

UC Santa Cruz Main Campus JOB DUTIES Staff Supervision: Provide supervisory support including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, conducting performance evaluations; responding to incidents in the field. Community Patrols: Conduct rounds through the residential communities to ensure security and safety are maintained. Operations: Maintain current postings of pertinent information, ensure that the zone logs and incident reports are proofread and complete before submission. Training Presentations: Create and plan training for staff based on current needs or changes to policy or procedure. Policy Development: Provide ongoing development of procedures and policies that reflect accurately the current expectations and job responsibilities of Residential Community Service Partners. Emergency Preparedness: Ensure staff are current with CPR/First Aid certification and emergency plan training. Leadership/Disaster Management: Provide leadership during a crisis response where needed. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience or strong knowledge in security, safety, emergency, and/or disaster response practices and principles. Supervisory experience sufficient to communicate expectations and motivate staff. Experience working with and supporting communities from diverse backgrounds. Excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in dealing with sensitive matters. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. CPR/First Aid Certification. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Must possess a valid license to drive in California. Ability to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
