Position Summary:
The Network & Security Administrator manages, maintains, and secures the network and surrounding infrastructure while supporting other critical services, including our Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, on-prem AD, and Service Desk support. Responsibilities include design, maintaining and supporting network and security tools and technologies, design and implementation (mergers and acquisitions, onboarding) utilizing our current SonicWall, Meraki, Ubiquiti technologies. The Network Administrator will be a key member of the team, working with the application and support teams to ensure the company’s network and infrastructure are running smoothly, securely, and efficiently.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based network infrastructures.
Administer and configure network appliances, including SonicWall firewalls, Cisco Meraki, and Ubiquiti network equipment.
Monitor network performance and proactively troubleshoot connectivity or reliability issues.
Configure, maintain, and monitor security solutions to ensure network protection.
Establish and maintain conditional access policies, MFA configurations, and SSO across on-premises and cloud systems.
Coordinate with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to oversee IT infrastructure, network performance, and security operations.
Serve as the point of contact between MSPs and internal IT leadership to align IT strategies, incident response, and system upgrades.
Monitor for network threats and respond to incidents using threat intelligence, intrusion detection, and prevention tools.
Conduct regular risk assessments and threat hunting exercises.
Document network and security policies and maintain audit-ready configurations.
Document network changes, infrastructure upgrades, and security configurations.
Generate reports to assess network performance, security incidents, and compliance needs for leadership review.
Provide technical assistance to end-users for network-related or M365-related issues.
Train and educate staff on security best practices, access policies, and M365 usage guidelines.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing enterprise networks and IT security, with a focus on M365, Entra ID, firewalls, and cloud environments. Proficiency with network infrastructure tools and technologies, including: SonicWall firewalls, Cisco Meraki, and Ubiquiti networking hardware. VPN technologies, LAN/WAN architecture, and cloud network technologies. Routing protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and DNS/DHCP configurations. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender for M365, Intune, and licensing management. Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID as well as on-prem AD. Hands-on, in-depth experience configuring network security appliances and tools. Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools. Experience within manufacturing and/or logistics company environments. Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSP/MSSP). Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to network and security issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical collaboration and end-user support. Microsoft, network, and security technical stack certifications. This role may involve on-call responsibilities, incident response, and occasional travel as required. Flexible remote work opportunities may be available depending on organizational needs.
