Position Overview
The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC,
is seeking candidates for the position of
Section Chief of General Thoracic Surgery . This is a leadership position which would involve oversight of the clinical practice of General Thoracic surgery at Duke University. Applicants should have a strong academic background including experience in resident training. Furthermore, they should have leadership experience and, most importantly, the capability to bring clinical innovation.
Responsibilities The section includes 9 surgeons who practice at two hospital locations. The practice features expertise in all forms of surgery involving the lung, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall. The section chief would also be responsible for overseeing all clinical and basic research within the section.
