Job ID: 2779155 | Amazon.com Services LLC The Mechanical Engineer Manager is responsible for the team to design automated packaging platforms and supporting systems to enable faster and more efficient delivery to Amazon's customers.
The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer Manager is to provide technical leadership, ownership, and refinement of the packaging platforms and automation systems. Working with the Electrical and Controls teams, the Mechanical Engineer will execute the design and manufacturing of Amazon's in-house packaging machinery and automation.
Key job responsibilities
Manage and lead the Mechanical Engineering team Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projects Lead the mechanical design work-streams, including modeling, load/bearing calculations, and 3D/2D design Ensure project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturing Support safety certification of projects/platforms Participate in meetings to optimize for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures 5+ years experience managing and leading an engineering team BA in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering 8+ years packaging machinery design experience Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Ansys, Creo, Catia, Solidworks PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production Experience with the project management of technical projects PLM, GD&T, and manufacturing process knowledge Understanding of packaging machinery safety standards Operations experience in a manufacturing environment Advanced simulation expertise Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
