Senior Structural Engineer
in either our
Dallas or Fort Worth, TX
offices. As a
Senior Structural Engineer , you will lead projects as a project manager or lead engineer for the delivery of large and highly complex projects with minimal support required from senior staff. You will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures. Some key duties and responsibilities include: Lead the assessment and design efforts for the analysis of structural systems, structural modification, strengthening, and repair of a variety of structures including buildings, parking structures, bridges, and other infrastructure-related structures. Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Lead the structural assessment and design efforts related to the preservation, renovation, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and structures. Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports. Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively. Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication. Provide in-process design reviews of structural system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence. Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements. Provide technical training and mentoring. Provide technical assistance in the resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering. Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG. Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals. Participate in project interviews and project presentations. Key skills and abilities needed for the position are: Mastery of design techniques, tools, assessment and testing protocols, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications related to modification, strengthening, and repair of structures with specialized experience with historic buildings. Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures. Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills. Ability to perform final quality control checks in their area of expertise. Ability to sell work and develop client relationships. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective team building skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Eagerness to adapt to new challenges. Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to provide litigation support by serving as a retained expert. Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays. Education and experience requirements are: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required. Master's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) License required. 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry. This position is not eligible for sponsorship. IMEG
