Electrical & Control Systems Design Engineer

Job Description We are seeking engineering graduates in the field of Electrical Engineering to perform engineering and design services. We have fantastic opportunities for design engineers to support electrical & control system design services, primarily using AutoCAD and AVEVA. Initial responsibilities will focus on design development, arc flash and distribution calculations, single line diagram development, equipment specifications and vendor coordination. The work is primarily in the office, but there are often great opportunities to perform field investigations and validation for the pipeline and utility designs. Engineers in this position have typically learned quickly through increasingly challenging assignments across a broad range of power and controls projects, and their role has grown to include coordination with other engineering disciplines, lead design responsibilities, project engineering and project management. Job duties will also include interfacing with clients and construction contractors, field investigation, and construction support. We are seeking to add enthusiastic design engineers to supplement and support our dedicated design engineering teams with projects in California and beyond. The position has a flexible 9/80 work schedule with a hybrid work location, supporting SPEC's Fountain Valley office. Job Requirements 1-2 years of working experience is preferred. Prior AutoCAD experience or relevant training is required. B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. EIT certification is a benefit, but not required. Experience with construction is a benefit, but not required. Familiarity with electrical engineering software such as ETAP, SKM, O-Calc, etc. is a benefit. Specific related power or control systems design experience, either with an engineering firm or utility operator is a benefit, but not required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with team members in both verbal and written form. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
