Civil/Structural Substation Engineer - In - Training
to work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable design of civil activities. The Engineer will coordinate his/her design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project execution for renewable energy and power delivery projects throughout the Midwest and Western United States.
About the Role:
The location for this hybrid-friendly position is flexible with a preference for individuals who are based near one of DEA's offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Fully remote may be considered depending on circumstances. Some travel for project execution may be required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Performs all aspects of substation structural design, including preparation of steel performance drawings, fabrication drawings, and foundation design. Shall understand and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs. Reviewing internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability. Preparing project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation. Resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects. Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to civil/structural design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information. Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members. Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects such as Procurement, Drafting, Project Management, etc. Maintaining good working relationships with clients, material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.
Basic Qualifications:
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an ABET accredited university. 0.5+ years of civil or structural substation design. Proficiency with structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics and foundation design. Proficiency in structural modeling software such as STADD Pro and foundation design software such as LPile is a plus. Working knowledge of 3D civil software such as AutoCad Civil 3D is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in 6 months.
Salary Range:
$72,500 - $89,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience; will vary by location.
