Description
The HPC Technical Expert will have experience in installation, configuration, and networking of UNIX and/or NT based platforms, including:
Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts.
Performing system backups and maintaining system configuration files.
Understanding operating systems and familiarity with UNIX or NT commands or utilities at the user level.
Installation and configuration of hardware, operating systems, and commercial software packages.
Developing and implementing enterprise backup/recovery strategies, server configuration, and consolidation.
Verifying the health and status of the entire IT infrastructure.
Providing support for enterprise services such as DNS, NFS, email services, security protection mechanisms, and interoperability of UNIX and NT based systems.
Responsibilities
The SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR IV FOR HPC must have the following qualifications:
Installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting and administration of multi-vendor servers running numerous COTS, open-source, and in-house applications.
Administration of multi-vendor servers running Red Hat or SuSe with direct attached, FC SAN storage or SSDs.
Working with distributed computing tools such as ReS, LSF, and SLURM.
Managing HPC farm systems, HPC MPP clustered systems, and Front End servers of Special Purpose devices (SPDs).
Configuration and support of multi-vendor filesystems such as XFS, GPFS, and Lustre.
Conducting Pre-Factory testing, Factory testing, System integration, and Acceptance testing during the purchase process of the HPS systems.
Advanced level troubleshooting and support of high performance filesystems and associated applications.
Configuration, tuning, testing, and advanced level troubleshooting of RedHat and SuSe operating systems.
Accepted professional certifications include:
Valid RHCSA or higher Red Hat certification.
Valid VMWare certification.
IAT Level 2 Certification Required
Qualifications
This Position requires an appropriate active Security Clearance and Polygraph.
The HPC TECHNICAL EXPERT must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, with at least eight (8) years in a large and complex IT environment. Alternatively, five (5) years of full-time computer science work can substitute for the Bachelor's degree, alongside eight years of relevant experience. A Master's Degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience, and an industry-recognized professional certification may substitute for one year of experience.
