Regular Full-Time Professional Chicago, IL, US 8 days ago Requisition ID: 1235 Salary Range: $58,656.00 To $58,656.00 Annually POSITION: Program Manager, Community Impact DEPARTMENT: Community Impact REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Community Impact PAY GRADE: 6 SALARY RANGE: $58, 656 - $58, 656 POSITION OVERVIEW The Program Manager, Community Impact will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and achieve measurable outcomes. This role supports the development and execution of United Way’s Impact Grants strategy and special grantmaking initiatives, working closely with the Senior Director of Community Impact to refine core strategies, monitor grant goals, and assess partner performance. The Manager will oversee, support and/or administer program investments, including but not limited to, the United Neighborhoods Equity Fund, the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, and periodic response grants, while also deepening agency partnerships, fostering collaboration, and creating opportunities for partners to share best practices. This position requires a highly motivated, strategic thinker to drive positive community impact and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Research content for the Impact Grants allocation process, including content area best practices, 211 data integration, application questions, application guide, scoring tools, and decision-making criteria, and work closely with Senior Director, Community Impact to create associated documents. Manage relationships with partner agencies to understand community conditions and partner needs and ensure they achieve expected outcomes from grant investments. Oversee, support and/or administer program investments, including but not limited to, the United Neighborhoods Equity Fund and the federal Emergency Food and Shelter program. Work closely with and support the Community Impact Team in managing and utilizing the online grants management system. Support development of capacity building strategy and networking convenings for partner agencies. Manage volunteer committees related to application reviews and grantmaking decisions. Collaborate closely with the Community Engagement Team and Senior Director of Community Impact to determine optimal methods for leveraging programmatic grant investments to support the Neighborhood Network and racial equity strategies. Collaborate with the grants team and Resource Development to identify new funding sources and provide data, stories, and other information about grantees to support fundraising efforts. Maintain relationships with funding community peers and knowledge of grantmaking best practices. Periodically convene funded and non-funded partner agencies to capture changes in direct service trends, knowledge, skills, and behavior. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, along with 3-5 years of grantmaking or direct service nonprofit experience. Strong understanding of community impact strategies, including researching and implementing best practices. Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritize, delegate, and execute concurrent projects and day-to-day tasks within a fast-paced environment from inception to conclusion. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to work well independently and collaborate within a team. Ability to take in significant amounts of information from various sources and distill key messages that create alignment and consensus internally and externally. Strong presentation skills to various key stakeholders internally and externally. Strong management, leadership, team building, problem solving, critical thinking, and judgment skills. Strong communication skills, including substantive contributions to discussions, drawing upon expertise to amplify work quality. Knowledge of Chicago nonprofit and philanthropic communities a plus. Access to a car and the ability to attend site visits and in-person meetings is required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
