As a key member of the
R&D
team, the
Principal Human Factors Engineer
will lead the design and implementation of human-centered research and usability initiatives across our portfolio of medical devices and call center operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, regulatory, quality, and customer support, to ensure that all devices meet user needs, regulatory requirements, and are optimized for ease of use. The role will be crucial in improving patient outcomes, minimizing risks, and enhancing the overall user experience, especially in the context of our customer-facing medical devices. About the Role:
Partner with senior leadership to align HFE initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, etc.). Oversee the application of human factors principles to the design, development, and evaluation of medical devices, ensuring safety, efficiency, and usability. Design and oversee formative and summative usability testing, including validation in clinical environments and user feedback sessions. Provide HFE training and education across the organization, advocating for user-centered design and usability best practices. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human factors engineering, usability engineering, cognitive psychology, biomedical engineering, or related field, and 12+ years of experience in human factors engineering, usability engineering, or a related field; Master's degree and minimum 8 years of experience. Proven track record of managing and leading HFE initiatives for complex, regulated products. Expertise in human-centered design methodologies, usability testing, and risk management in medical devices. Why Laborie:
