Vice President, Mechanical Engineering The Vice President, Mechanical Engineering is accountable for mechanical engineering groups' execution performance in terms of achieving functional targets, beating project budgets, ensuring on-time delivery of scope, and delivering engineering excellence. The Vice President will manage and mentor the mechanical engineering group, focusing on engagement, development, and performance management. This role will also involve resource planning, prioritization, and capacity management while collaborating with executive leadership to align with business strategies. Responsibilities
Engineering Performance Management Accountable for the mechanical engineering department's performance in terms of achieving functional targets, meeting project budgets, and ensuring on-time delivery. Ensure engineering excellence through active participation in critical project milestone review meetings. Respond to escalated project and operational challenges with strategic plans. Approve and enforce compliance of documented standard processes. Improve tools and systems for operational capacity alignment with commercial strategies. Drive alignment across business units for effective collaboration. People Management Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives. Prioritize and allocate technical resources to meet project schedules. Lead performance management reviews of the mechanical engineering group. Develop partnerships with outsourced resources to meet group needs. Manage resources proactively and escalate staffing needs as required. Develop reporting tools for team resourcing and project execution performance. Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new group members. Cross-Functional Contributions Assist sales teams in creating unique solutions to enhance offerings. Support project management with commercial strategies during execution. Collaborate with executive leadership to formulate the long-term vision. Partner with leadership to assess standard product offerings. Research technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantages. Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, and at least 10 years of relevant work experience. Proven leadership qualities and strong communication skills. Passion for motivating and developing team members. Tenacity to solve problems and take ownership of solutions. Solid understanding of industrial automation and robotics. Direct experience in mechanical design and build of automated systems. Proficient in calculations for proper equipment design and analysis. Familiarity with various CAD software, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Experience with compliance to equipment design standards. Ability to lead and motivate a team to meet deadlines and budgets. Reliable transportation and ability to travel globally. Physical Demands
