A Chicago client is seeking a
FortiGate Firewall Engineer
to join their team. The ideal candidate will align with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below. Responsibilities Configure, manage, and maintain FortiGate firewalls, including VPN, IPSec, SSL VPN, and other security features. Implement and manage firewall policies, routing, NAT, and security profiles. Perform regular firewall health checks and proactive monitoring to ensure the security and availability of networks. Troubleshoot and resolve network security issues, including firewall rule optimization and log analysis. Conduct vulnerability assessments and network security audits to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure network architectures and configurations. Provide support for incident response and security breaches related to FortiGate firewall and network security. Assist with network traffic analysis, packet capture, and performance tuning. Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in cybersecurity and FortiGate firewall technologies. Document firewall configurations, network diagrams, and security protocols. Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience working with FortiGate firewalls in a production environment. In-depth understanding of network security principles and best practices. Proficient in configuring and managing FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, routing protocols, and security profiles. Experience with FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and other Fortinet security products. Knowledge of firewall rule optimization, traffic shaping, and QoS policies. Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.) and their security implications. Experience with network analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.) and troubleshooting techniques.
