Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be the ultimate configuration owner for the New Shepard Crew Capsule. Collaborating with engineering leads, you will be responsible for defining the product structure for all sub-systems. You will manage the current product structure's installations, assemblies, and components' parameters, attributes, effectivities, and release states to meet internal configuration management standards for Mission Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and Human Flight Certification Reviews (HFCRs). You will be processing, analyzing, and tracking Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Operations Change Requests (OCRs) through incremental upgrades to produce a highly reliable crew capsule. You will perform technical change impact analysis for engineering and operations change requests to ensure readiness for the Change Control Board (CCB). You will define, develop, and implement processes/tools to streamline and manage the as-designed and as-built configurations for sustaining operations and new development.
You will also lead configuration reviews for the next generation of New Shepard Crew Capsule, which is presently being designed and built. You'll lead interface and space constraint reviews and help the team with important technical trades.
We are looking for a technically curious doer to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead configuration reviews of the next generation Crew Capsule design. This will require navigating through the CREO model.
Ownership for End Item definition, Engineering Bill of Materials, and Part Instancing across sub-systems and launch facility locations.
Define and manage the Crew Capsule Product Structure in PTC Windchill.
Develop and implement process improvements to maintain accurate configurations for human flight operations.
Ownership of Crew Capsule system change management and managing change requests. Perform highly technical change impact analysis. Develop and implement improvements to the change impact analysis and change requests tools and processes.
Ownership and presentation of Human Flight Certification Reviews (HFCRs) configuration content.
Ownership of the as-built/as-sustained configuration content, tools, and processes.
Communicate effectively with cross functional development, operations, and maintenance teams on changes and development projects.
Schedule and facilitate change requests for a Change Control Board (CCB) consisting of program managers and chief engineers.
Provide mentoring and leadership to engineering teams on configuration management processes, tools, and standards.

Familiar with viewing and navigating large models and drawing sets in 2D/3D CAD programs (PTC Creo, AutoCAD, and Visio preferred).
B.S. degree in engineering (Systems Engineering preferred).
Minimum 8+ years' experience in configuration and change management of highly integrated and complex systems.
Strong understanding and practice with the four functions of configuration management.
Experience managing large number of complex installations, assemblies, and components across all engineering disciplines.
Familiar with management of multiple configuration variants of a common design baseline.
Experience in management of changes to an operational (fielded) system with varying effectivities across multiple products.
Experience performing highly technical, in-depth change analysis for engineering system changes for the entire product lifecycle.
Highly skilled navigating PLM software (Windchill preferred) to manage large configurations with thousands of components and hundreds of assemblies/installations.
Familiar with typical aerospace ground systems supporting liquid propelled launch vehicles across all engineering disciplines.
Familiar with current aerospace systems engineering, artifacts, integration tools, and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with engineering drawing conventions such as ASME Y14.100.
Experience with PTC Windchill PLM tools, work authoring tools, and part management tools.
