Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems – X-Lab Test Engineer (24-505) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities. The C2BMC National Team Integration & Test Functional Area immediately needs a Test Engineer (Element Mission Engineer) to assist with the organization and participation in Flight and Ground Tests. The selected applicant will identify required resources, develop and understand mission objectives for the system(s) under test, develop data archival and analysis plans, and develop post-mission reports. Work as a Test Engineer in the Experimentation Lab. The position is based near Colorado Springs at Schriever Space Force Base, but infrequent travel to customer sites and contractor sites may be required. Non-standard work hours are highly likely during event execution. Essential Functions: Integrate X-Lab prototypes into an MDA test by coordinating with project leads and briefing status before executing the test. Work with the customer to understand the test's needs and find ways to satisfy those needs within resource constraints. Responsible for maintaining the configuration management of a set of lab machines dedicated to specific development activities. Serve as the liaison to other C2BMC test participants and MDA/BCT test managers. Develop and maintain the test architecture that includes all articles under test. Understand systems engineering, systems design, and development. Possess 8 or more years of experience in a closely related environment. Ability to analyze high-level needs and refine them into an integrated set of requirements. Ability to lead portions of the activity and direct the activities of fellow engineers. Communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project. Basic Qualifications: An active Secret clearance is required to start. Bachelor’s Degree in a

STEM

discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience. Experience planning and managing flight, ground test, and Warfighter events. Experience with the operation of C2BMC and knowledge of the system configuration. Experience with missile defense systems such as:

AN/TPY2 SBIRS/BOA Aegis THAAD Patriot SBX

Must have experience working in an integrated team environment. Strong verbal/written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Missile Defense Systems is highly desired. $124,900 - $187,300 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
