Position Summary: The successful performance of the Volunteer Services Manager requires meeting high standards in the following areas: Volunteer recruitment and supervision, data entry, administrative skills, maintaining an email list, and record keeping in an EMR database, and providing annual continuing education. The VSM is an active member of the Leadership Team and will work closely with the Director of Ancillary Services in developing strategy and policy for volunteer services. The VSM leads the Volunteer Services Department and supervises volunteer coordinator position(s), ensuring that volunteers are effectively recruited, managed, trained, and supported.

Qualifications:

College degree

2+ years in volunteer services management preferred

2+ years’ experience supervising employees

Knowledge of Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation and regulations related to Volunteer Services

Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, and Publisher and a willingness to learn other software programs. *Experience with Better Impact volunteer management database a plus*

Excellent time management skills

Attention to detail, problem solving and adaptability are essential

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

Ability to respect confidentiality

Duties:

Supervise Volunteer Coordinator(s)

Supervise Volunteers

Collaborate with all departments, promoting, educating and supporting the volunteer role as a member of the team

Recruit, interview, orient and provide ongoing support for volunteers

Match volunteers with patients and provide communication notes and updates to the care team members on behalf of volunteers

Supervisor on-call responsibilities

Participate in IDG meetings

Actively participate in leadership meetings, collaborating and communicating with the leadership team

Ensure Grace meets all Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation and regulations related to Volunteer Services

Identify and act upon improvement opportunities for the overall success of Grace Hospice

Interpersonal Relationships

Displays an attitude of courtesy and respect for all prospective patients, families, staff, volunteers, and referral sources

Functions as a team member with other staff in the performance of duties.

Seeks and accepts feedback regarding the performance of job duties.
