Northrop Grumman Space Systems Division is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to assist a team of mechanical engineers to perform Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) design engineering tasks on one or more spacecraft systems or subsystems. Responsibilities

Work on design of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) hardware from requirements through integration and test. Perform detailed design tasks using CREO Parametric Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs. Interface and communicate with customers, programs, Integration and Test (I&T), functional management, other engineering disciplines, and component suppliers. Perform cost and schedule planning for MGSE projects and proposals. Be self-motivated and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems under limited supervision. Skills shall include, but are not limited to, prior experience with CREO Parametric CAD software, knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), Machine Design, 3D Printing, Design of Weldments, and welding in general, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Mechanics of Materials, and basic machining processes. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Mechanical/MGSE Engineer 3 or Sr. Principal Mechanical/MGSE Engineer 4. Basic Qualifications: Principal Mechanical/MGSE Engineer 3

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related area and 5 to 9+ years of experience. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain government clearance. Experience in performing engineering tasks associated with design, manufacturing, and integration of MGSE or equivalent hardware in relevant industries. Experience with CREO Parametric CAD software. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and preparation of manufacturing documentation. Experience with cost and schedule management. Knowledge of structural members, including weldments and other material joining and subtracting techniques. Ability to proactively seek out requirements. Ability to document assumptions and requirements and verify validity before proceeding with MGSE design and manufacturing. Basic understanding of analysis and simulation methods and results. Able to work on-site at Dulles, VA facility a majority of the work week. Basic Qualifications: Sr. Principal Mechanical/MGSE Engineer 4

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related area and 9 to 14+ years of experience. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain government clearance. Experience in performing engineering tasks associated with design, manufacturing, and integration of MGSE or equivalent hardware in relevant industries. Experience with CREO Parametric CAD software. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and preparation of manufacturing documentation. Experience with cost and schedule management. Knowledge of structural members, including weldments and other material joining and subtracting techniques. Ability to proactively seek out requirements. Ability to document assumptions and requirements and verify validity before proceeding with MGSE design and manufacturing. Advanced understanding of analysis and simulation methods and results. Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to close complex design solutions. Prior experience with Microsoft Project. Able to work on-site at Dulles, VA facility a majority of the work week. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with large and small structure design. Experience with hands-on hardware fabrication. Demonstrated leadership experience. Advanced proficiency with CREO Parametric CAD software. Proficiency with analysis and simulation tools. Salary Range

$100,300 - $150,500 $124,900 - $187,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
