There is an immediate opening for a Process Control Engineer at the Pasadena Plastics Complex. The successful candidate will report to the Process and Controls Superintendent. This position provides controls and daily DCS support for the polyethylene units and utilities area.
Responsibilities
Designs and implements DCS/PLC software changes on the control systems, including DCS point building and graphic design, APC, PLC ladder logic, and Sequence Function Charts. Supports capital and/or expense projects with developing the controls/DCS scope of work. Leads process alarm review process and drives continuous improvements opportunities for assigned work area. Supports optimization efforts to improve plant safety, profitability, and efficiency. Reviews and manages the documentation of system standards, control procedures, and DCS architecture. Participates in the process safety management process by executing the Management of Change process, completing process hazard analysis, pre-startup safety reviews, and other technical processes. Supports site with off-hour call-out duty on rotation of nights and weekends with team. Maintains and supports upgrades of advanced control applications, training simulator, and alarm management application. Coordinates DCS and controls projects and tasks involving consultants and hardware/software vendors. Evaluates and champions emerging technologies in process automation. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical processing or refinery environment. Minimum of 3 years of process control experience. Strong technical skills, the ability to communicate effectively on issues across the organization, and a collaborative work style within and across functions. Ability to mentor and train team members on process control topics. Proficient in reading and understanding design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, schematics, and booleans. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with developed interpersonal skills to gain alignment and resolve conflicts within cross-discipline work groups. Preferred Qualifications
