The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Design Engineering team. This pivotal role, reporting to the Director of Design Engineering, offers the opportunity to lead and innovate within the electrical engineering field, contributing to the successful execution of capital projects and engineering services across our South San Francisco (SSF) site and other active project locations. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and accountability for electrical engineering designs on capital projects and engineering services performed at the South San Francisco (SSF) site and other sites.
Engage in the design and planning of upgrades to critical electrical infrastructure and facility electrical systems across a portfolio of 50+ buildings / 6M square feet of space.
Work on projects including office buildings, research laboratories, biotech/pharma manufacturing facilities, power generation facilities, utility plants, warehouses and data centers.
Act as a respected industry expert, collaborating on new technologies, best practices, and standards.
Engage frequently with various levels of the organization, advising external design consultants on electrical engineering design.
Coordinate with project managers and provide guidance and direction to design vendors and Alliance Partners.
Influence and align on design standards and approaches across the network.
Teach and direct project managers and partners on industry practices and new technologies.
Perform work with limited direction and independent judgment.
Present to upper management on business drivers and site strategies.
Present at industry events as a technical expert.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Complete Genentech specific site training and continual training compliance.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
15 years or more pharmaceutical technology experience, with at least 8 years in electrical system design, construction, and/or commissioning.
Working knowledge of electrical codes and design standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA.
Pharmaceutical GMP project design experience preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Strong organization and planning skills.
Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.
Dependable with strong attention to detail.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $132,100 - $245,300 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
