As our Electrical Engineer II, you will be responsible for the design and grid connection of rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted solar PV and energy storage installations for ENGIE Energy Solutions. Your role includes developing templates, specifications, and standards for our internal engineering firm, ensuring high-quality designs for installation contractors, interconnecting utilities, permitting authorities, clients, and building owners. You will collaborate closely with the Project Development and Delivery teams, providing support in the development, design, procurement, and optimization of standards and specifications to ensure efficient project delivery. This position sits in Chicago, IL reporting to Electrical Engineering Manager. Key Responsibilities

Evaluate building electrical systems and utility infrastructure to create and maintain PV system design templates, standards, and specifications. Develop and write standards for PV system components, performing electrical calculations, selecting equipment, and determining utility or facility interconnection. Prepare equipment specifications for procurement, coordinating bidding, permitting, and construction in line with ENGIE’s design standards. Organize and apply national and regional codes from Jurisdictions Having Authority (JHA) and utilities for compliance with electrical, building, and interconnection practices. Oversee junior team members and document completed installations for as-built drawings, while staying updated on new technologies, codes, and industry best practices. What You’ll Bring

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position, designing electrical systems and producing construction drawing sets and documentation including wire sizing, protection system coordination, grounding systems, relay schematic, settings design, and equipment specification. You have strong familiarity with the National Electric Code and other design codes, along with experience in electrical power systems design and implementation. You are proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, protective relaying (SEL), and data acquisition programming and design. You are knowledgeable in specifying and sourcing electrical equipment for low (up to 600V) and medium voltage (up to 34.5kV) applications. You are an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) pursuing an Electrical Power Systems Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, with a flexible attitude and technical proficiency. You have strong communication skills (written and verbal), take ownership of projects, and contribute to company-wide strategy while developing leadership skills and encouraging innovation. This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy. Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips. Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; use of company vehicle, ability to drive to site locations. Salary Range:

$74,500 – $109,230 USD annually. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan. Benefits
