Duties and Responsibilities Draft, negotiate, and review agreements related to ad agency engagements, influencer partnerships, celebrity endorsements, sponsorships, online media buying, and other marketing and promotional activities. Review and analyze ad copy for compliance with false advertising regulations, claim substantiation, intellectual property rights, and right of publicity issues. Provide counsel on compliance with contest and sweepstakes regulations, price advertising, recurring subscription programs, and loyalty/rewards programs. Advise clients on strategies to address false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division disputes. Conduct legal research and guide emerging trends in advertising and marketing law. Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulatory changes, and advertising and marketing law best practices. Prepare and present legal briefs, memos, and reports with high accuracy and clarity. Requirements A minimum of 7 years of experience in advertising law, consumer protection law, and marketing transactions. Proven experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of marketing agreements. Expertise in reviewing ad copy and providing counsel on compliance issues. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent academic credentials and outstanding legal writing and communication skills. Experience working in a large or medium law firm setting is preferred. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Washington, DC, or eligible for admission. Skills In-depth knowledge of advertising and marketing law, including false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division dispute resolution. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents.
