Senior Traffic Engineer

Senior Traffic Engineer Location: Virginia Beach, VA Responsibilities: Lead projects and teams on adaptive signal systems, innovative intersections, TSMO/ATMS, managed lanes, and complete street projects. Conduct traffic safety/operations studies, develop Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, and VISUM models. Design traffic control devices (signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting), work zone traffic control, ITS, and CAV projects. Work on projects ranging from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects. Potential client site work and infrequent travel. Requirements: B.S. in Civil Engineering (M.S. preferred). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months. Certified PTOE. 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic/ITS engineering. Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, and Highway Safety Manual. Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. Proficiency in HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, VISUM. Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills. Positive attitude and ability to work independently and cooperatively. Experience in proposal development, project management, and contract management. Experience with VDOT preferred.
