QA Software Test Engineer
to join an Agile team supporting the
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Information and Technology (OIT) . This position involves working on the digital transformation and integration of emerging technologies into mission applications, supporting modernized, cloud-based applications in production.
As part of the team, you will be involved in the continued development, enhancement, deployment, and sustainment of CBP systems, prioritizing features and capabilities aligned with operational needs. The role requires expertise in software testing, test automation, and a deep understanding of Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Testing & Automation :
Automate testing for both new and existing functionalities with minimal supervision. Utilize complex testing tools to develop and execute automated tests. Develop functional scenarios, detailed test cases, and review complex test plans, procedures, and scripts based on functional specifications.
Test Execution :
Execute manual and automated tests, track progress, log defects, and validate issues in Defect Management Tools. Debug, document, and complete hardware/software testing tasks according to internal standards. Retest features after fixes and provide feedback to the development team.
Collaboration & Reviews :
Participate in project status meetings and provide progress updates on testing activities, risks, and issues. Engage in peer reviews of test cases, test plans, and process improvements. Collaborate with business analysts (BAs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure testing aligns with requirements.
Test Documentation & Reporting :
Document and communicate test results, defects, and status to the development and management teams. Proactively suggest improvements for testing processes and execution. Create and maintain test data for testing scenarios and coordinate execution.
Quality Assurance :
Perform advanced software testing, error analysis, regression testing, and performance testing. Conduct stress, reliability, security, and performance testing using tools like LoadRunner and JMeter. Participate in integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline using tools like Git and Jenkins.
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship
with the ability to pass a DHS background investigation. Experience :
Minimum of
2 years of mobile testing experience . At least
4 years of hands-on coding experience in Java . 3-5 years of experience
using automated testing tools like
Selenium, Appium, JMeter, Postman , or other similar tools. Experience in
508 compliance testing . Proficiency with
Agile SDLC , web services, and API testing using
REST
or
SoapUI . Experience with
test case design ,
regression testing , and
error documentation .
Skills & Tools :
Experience with
JIRA ,
Git ,
Jenkins , and
MS Office
(Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Familiarity with
CI/CD pipeline integration , stress, reliability, security, and performance testing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in
Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science , or related field with
3-5 years of relevant experience .
Additional Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritize testing issues and resolve them efficiently. Experience working with
web-based applications
and modern technologies. Ability to thrive in a
fast-paced
environment with tight deadlines and new challenges.
