Job Description
12 months contract - with possibility of extension
Onsite position - Sunnyvale location
$60-70/hour on W2
Job Responsibilities:
Perform validation and benchmarking for all cloud shapes, instances, and kernels. Perform qualifications for new hardware, components, firmware, and kernel for on-prem production environments. Perform qualifications of firmware and kernel for cloud production environments as needed. Generate high-quality reports for all qualifications and benchmarking cases. Validate and provide feedback (user experience) on our qualification and benchmarking platform. Provide support for our architects by creating documentation and testing runbooks from/for vendors. Work with vendors and debug hardware issues found in production and during qualifications. Provide support for our Reliability Engineering team in debugging on-prem hardware issues, including interfacing with our hardware vendors. Manage Sunnyvale’s lab to support the needs of internal engineers. Required Skills and Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, or 5+ years equivalent industry experience. Solid understanding of server hardware at scale: data center network fundamentals, OS imaging, provisioning, distribution, and configuration deployment at a large scale. Strong understanding of qualification processes and test tools. Strong hands-on experience with Linux investigations and debugging performance problems. Strong understanding of server hardware and its software dependencies (BIOS, firmware, etc.). Experience with multiple scripting and programming languages, e.g., C/C++, Python, Go, etc. Cloud experience, preferably with GCP, OCI, AWS. Ability to drive issues and collaborate with vendors, within the team, and across teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to write detailed design documents and post-mortems. A team player with the belief that teams can accomplish more together than as separate individuals. Attention to detail, particularly around software engineering fundamentals, testing methodologies, and quality. Strong sense of ownership, passion, and initiative to fix problems and optimize systems. Benefits:
