Software Development Engineer, AWS Payments
AWS has the most services and more features within those services than any other cloud provider—from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases to emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things. The AWS Platform team sustains over 750 million transactions per second. Our team values work-life balance. We offer a flexible schedule to help you maintain a productive and well-balanced life—both in and outside of work. The AWS Commerce Platform Payments team is looking for talented and passionate software development engineers with strong technical and business systems backgrounds to build new invoicing, payments, and financial reconciliation services and products. This position involves the development of new software systems and customer-facing features that are critical to the success of AWS customers' businesses and directly impact AWS’ growth and international expansion efforts. As an engineer within the Commerce Platform, you will be part of a high-performing team. You will interface with many teams across AWS, including our Financial and Accounting groups, and work on integrating directly with customer systems. You will be responsible for driving the team’s technical direction, strategizing and shaping our long-term vision and architecture. You will own major deliverables end-to-end, drive roadmaps, and provide technical leadership to the engineering team. Key job responsibilities
We are building global invoicing solutions, high-scale payment processing systems, and financial reconciliation integrations that will seamlessly meet B2B needs for AWS customers. These next-generation services must have self-service features, be configuration-driven, and deliver superior operational excellence. AWS services need to be highly scalable, extremely secure, and have near real-time responses. As a Software Development Engineer, you will: Own design, development, test, deployment, and operation of services that our customers depend on. Contribute directly to our growth by hiring smart and motivated engineers. Ensure the sanity of architecture, operational excellence, and quality, delivering results on time. Work closely with other teams across AWS and Amazon. Obsess over protecting customer information and maintaining single-digit millisecond latencies. Mentor interns or less experienced SDEs on the team. Dive into architecture, code, test plans, project plans, deployments, and operations to drive excellence. Represent your business and operations to the highest level of leadership within AWS. Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience. Experience programming with at least one software programming language. 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent. Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status.
