A litigation legal assistant/paralegal supports a team of litigation attorneys in the delivery of legal services.
- Manages the administrative aspects of legal cases for assigned attorneys.
- Prepares and edits legal documents and correspondence, maintaining electronic and paper files, court filing and service of litigation documents, deposition management and calendaring.
Job performance success is measured primarily by the following metrics:
- The consistent production of accurate and timely documents with minimal supervision.
- Promptness of turnaround time.
- Knowledge of the court systems, rules, and success at applying that knowledge in the routine delivery of work product.
- Expertise and accuracy with ProLaw or similar case management system.
- Work ethic that demonstrates commitment to the Firm.
Skills and Responsibilities include:
- E-filing experience in Washington, both State and Federal court
- Familiar with civil filings
- Maintain attorneys calendar by planning and scheduling meetings, depositions, mediations, teleconferences, and travel.
- Possess the ability to communicate with outside law firms to schedule depositions and other meetings as needed.
- Proof and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions, and prepare routine shell documents.
- Ability to prepare and file pleading documents and discovery documents while consulting with the attorney.
- Handle general correspondence between outside law firms, clients, and insurance carriers.
- Heavy document and file management organizational skills
- Record and track deadlines through docketing and calendar system.
- Assist multiple attorneys.
- Trial preparation
- Above-average tech skills, including comprehensive understanding and ability to fully utilize all Microsoft Office products as well as Adobe.
- A willingness to share knowledge and collaborate with teams.
- Provide support and assistance to other legal assistants with work overflow, vacation coverage, and unplanned/planned absences as needed.
- Proactively solve problems and provide a high level of customer service to our attorneys and clients.
