Acceler8Talent is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer in Optical Transceiver Design for an exciting, well-funded AI hardware startup on the cutting edge of photonics. This company is pioneering next-gen, high-speed photonic solutions to power the connectivity needs of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing. In this pivotal role, you’ll be the driving force behind their 800G and future optical transceiver products, shaping design decisions and collaborating closely with their technical teams. Your expertise will be essential in bringing their groundbreaking optical transceiver portfolio to market. Salary is dependent your experience in the optical transceiver industry and will make sure you are paid properly employee stock options Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for the definition of the system architecture, design, interfaces, risks, and tradeoff analysis supporting product development objectives Collaborate with cross-functional teams on feature specifications, collect requirements from all relevant partners, and make decisions about implementation tradeoffs Support selection and characterization of DSP, RF IC, and photonic ICs and subassemblies. Coordinate with external partners and the internal team to drive the hardware platform development Review and oversee engineering verification plans and tests, ensuring designs meet product objectives Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members Own link budgets and penalty allocations for optical transceiver products. Requirements MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering/Physics or equivalent education with experience in optical communications, photonics, high-speed electronics or systems 7 years experience of developing optical transceivers with market success Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems, fiber transmission penalties, photonic integrated components, electronic (integrated) circuits, signal analysis, and signal processing Fundamental understanding of high-speed optoelectronic devices (lasers, detectors, modulators) Familiar with high-speed ICs, including DSP, modulator drivers, and transimpedance amplifiers Experience characterizing and troubleshooting high-speed optical transceivers Hands-on experience working with system-level optical communication hardware and components Experience characterizing high-speed RF and optoelectronic components and assemblies Extensive understanding of IMDD and coherent communications systems Demonstrated design of products in the field with Telcordia GR-468 compliance
