Responsible for evaluating current processes and optimizing the production capability and reliability to meet business needs.  Lead ongoing effort to identify and implement process improvement opportunities.  Provide troubleshooting support on a day-to-day basis.   

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production processes and identify and resolve deficiencies.
  • Monitor and trend direct production materials consumption and optimize usage and cost.
  • Monitor and trend utilities consumption and lead initiatives to optimize usage.
  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support to operations.
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions. Issue lessons-learned reporting to operations.
  • Define and provide technical specifications for process, equipment, and new technology applications. 
  • Assist with the installation, start-up and validation of conformance to design specification for new technology, equipment and processes.
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
  • Establish business case, performs risk analysis, and develop detailed opportunities to meet business needs. 
  • Update and maintain relevant documentation for process trending, initiatives, and opportunities.
  • Report on a regular basis all key information to the management team.
  • Responsible for other responsibilities as requested by the management team.

  • Proven manufacturing plant experience.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with equipment reliability analysis and methods for improvement.
  • Must understand industry regulatory compliance standards and their application to the manufacturing process.
  • Knowledgeable of FDA requirements for the industry: HACCP and cGMP (Change control, CAPA, deviation, audit, validation).
  • Process control & continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience with Batch and continuous processing.
  • Experience in applied process design engineering.
  • Knowledge of interpreting laboratory analytical data related to process.
  • Takes initiative; has a sense of urgency for follow up with internal departments (e.g., production and maintenance).
  • Highly organized, self-starter and ability to work independently.
  • Collaborative team player; works well with diverse people and departments (R&D, Production, QA, QC,  Maintenance, Finance, Contractors and Consultants, Global Resources).
  • Hands-on process troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, simulation software, programing software (ALLEN BRADLEY).
  • Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, P&ID’s, drawing/designs, and legal documents.
  • Responsive and supportive to common inquiries from vendors, consultants, and outside contractors.
  • High ethical standards.

Work Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar field of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
