Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in Houston. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in designing, developing, programming, and testing PLC and/or DCS-based control systems specifically within the Industrial Energy sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects that power the energy and industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems architectures tailored to meet client-specific requirements.
- Control System Design and capacity analysis.
- Development of PLC and HMI/ SCADA software applications compliant with customer/company specifications and/or applicable industry standards.
- Program, configure, and test PLC and DCS systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define control system specifications, including hardware and software components.
- Perform system simulations and conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) to validate system performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control system hardware and software during the development and implementation phases.
- Develop detailed documentation including control narratives, loop diagrams, and user manuals.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning of control systems on-site.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Participate in client meetings to review project progress and address any technical concerns.
- Continuously stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate best practices into control systems design.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, programming, and testing PLC/DCS-based control systems, preferably in the Industrial Energy sector.
- HMI programming (Wonderware, Allen-Bradley)
- Experience working on PlantPAx system is a plus.
- Experience working on Yokogawa DCS is a plus.
- Proficiency with PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and DCS configuration tools.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and interface development.
- Strong understanding of process control concepts, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and NFPA.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Willingness to travel to client sites for system installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or control system certification is a plus.
